The Arvo platform

Distribute two new travel policies

Arvo is the platform underwriters use to distribute and administer the Flight Delay Pass and Hotel Night Pass through travel platforms, travel agents and insurance agents. If a policyholder's flight is disrupted in the 24 hours before it departs, they automatically get a pre-loaded virtual rescue card to buy a new flight or a hotel room.

Products

Two independent policies distributed globally

Both are parametric policies dynamically priced on the disruption risk of the flights in the customer's itinerary. Flight data triggers an automatic claim, or the policyholder can self-report a disruption. The payout is a rescue card that can be used once on any travel or hotel site.

FLIGHT DELAY PASS

By the time I get my re‑accommodation, I will miss the meeting

Money for a new flight, within minutes

  • Smart quoteNEW Priced on the disruption risk of each flight on the itinerary, so every traveller gets their own price.
  • Smart coverNEW Sized to what it costs to fly again: a multiple of the original flight cost.
  • Smart trigger Automated claim. Live flight data starts the claim on its own when a flight is delayed 3+ hours or cancelled.
  • Trigger window 24 hours before any flight on the itinerary.
  • Smart payoutRESCUE CARD Used once, up to the amount of the cover, and the policyholder can add more to it if needed. The virtual card works only on travel platforms and is valid for 24 hours after it’s issued.
  • Distributed by Travel platforms, travel agencies and insurance agents.
HOTEL NIGHT PASS

By the time I arrive, I will lose the hotel booking

Money for new hotel night(s), within minutes

  • Smart quoteNEW Priced on the disruption risk of each flight that brings the guest to the stay.
  • Smart coverNEW Sized to what it costs to sleep somewhere else: a multiple of the cost per night of the stay.
  • Smart trigger Automated claim. Live flight data starts the claim on its own when a flight in is cancelled, a connection is missed, or the guest would land after 06:00 the day after check-in.
  • Trigger window 24 hours before each flight that brings the guest to the stay.
  • Smart payoutRESCUE CARD Used once, up to the amount of the cover, and the policyholder can add more to it if needed. The virtual card works only on travel platforms and at hotels, and is valid for 72 hours after it’s issued.
  • Distributed by Travel platforms.

Economics

Every pass fee, split the same way

Claims come first. After the payment gateway, what’s left is shared by Arvo, the partner and the underwriter.

Pricing

Dynamically priced by Arvo

Arvo’s model

Prices the risk

Each flight’s chance of disruption and what a new seat costs. It learns from live fares and real rescue cards, guarded so no buyer or partner can steer it.

The underwriter sets

The margin

The same for every trip, or a platform’s own in its agreement with the underwriter. The rest of the fee is expected claims.

The underwriter limits

What can be sold

The delay that pays out in each country, the most per rescue card, the booking size, and exposure per flight, airport and airline.

Checkout

Arvo runs the checkout. The underwriter keeps the money.

Every pass is bought on a checkout Arvo hosts in the underwriter’s brand. The card payment runs on the underwriter’s own payment gateway, so each pass fee goes straight into its account.

  1. Its brand, run by Arvo The underwriter’s name and policy on every screen. Arvo hosts the page and keeps it running.
  2. Nothing to type twice Filled in from the partner’s booking: the travellers, the flights and the fare.
  3. Key facts and consent, on record The underwriter’s terms for the buyer’s country, with each consent kept with the pass.
  4. The underwriter’s own gateway Paid straight into its account. Arvo and the partner never hold the money or see card details.

The underwriter’s own inbox

Emails to its help and privacy addresses land here, matched to the customer and their passes.

Every customer's journey

Find a customer by any reference. See their passes, claims and rescue cards, and refund within cooling-off.

A complaints register

Every complaint, from any channel, timed against its deadlines. Export it for the regulator.

Records

Every policy kept in full – secure and compliant

7 years

Every pass archived

From sale to bordereau close, kept in the cloud region for the customer’s country. It’s locked, so nobody can change it or delete it early, Arvo included.

Every 5 minutes

A sealed ledger

Every money entry is sealed into a hash chain. Each day’s last hash goes to a write-once store and appears on the underwriter’s monthly report.

At bordereau close

Personal data minimised

Personal details leave the live platform once the bordereau closes, at least 180 days after the pass ends. Data requests are answered from the archive.

After the pass ends

Chargebacks contested

When a pass ended with no claim, a later dispute gets an automatic answer: the terms, the consents and each flight’s actual takeoff.

Platform

Designed for plug and play

The policy terms are between the traveller and the underwriter, and three more agreements connect the underwriter, Arvo and each partner. The underwriter pays Arvo and the partner from the premiums collected in its account.

1 · UNDERWRITER AND ARVO

Platform agreement

Arvo runs the product as the underwriter's outsourced provider. It sets the platform fee, service levels, audit rights, data processing and exit.

2 · ARVO AND PARTNER

Platform terms

The API, the offer on the partner's site, and support. Technology only: no insurance money changes hands.

3 · UNDERWRITER AND PARTNER

Distribution agreement

One standard form appoints each partner to offer the underwriter's policy, with its profit share. Partners from an intermediary are covered by the underwriter's agreement with it.

4 · UNDERWRITER AND TRAVELLER

Policy terms

The pass the traveller buys from the partner is the underwriter’s policy, on its terms for the traveller’s country. Claims and the rescue card come from the underwriter.
